In April 2019, Rob West, Marieke Dekkers and Grant Bowdery ran along the banks of the Red River in North Vietnam. The run started at the National Children’s Hospital in Hanoi and ended at a provincial clinic in Lao Cai, 300km away.
They ran in relay non-stop (30hours) with the aim of raising money and awareness of the work of Newborns Vietnam. Funds are desperately needed for a range of purposes from the purchase of incubators for premature babies and other life-saving equipment to training doctors and nurses in newborn care.
In the week before the run, the trio and our video were featured in a national newspaper.
